inThis week marks the 4th year of Adrienne’s Type 1 diabetes! I was calling it an “anniversary”, but that somehow seemed a little too celebratory. Then I got to thinking….are we celebrating? Why yes, we are! We’re not celebrating the diabetes itself, but we are celebrating God’s faithfulness. We are celebrating the fact that we live in a day when we have easy access to insulin. We have a pump – a luxury, more or less – to make life easier. We have regular check-ups, free of charge. We have a daughter that can run and play and do anything her sisters can do!
When she was diagnosed, a few people told us they felt that God wanted to heal her of diabetes. I say, “Bring it on!”. We pray for her healing, according to God’s will.
As much as I hope and pray that one day she will be healed, I am leaving that up to God. I know that I cannot see the big picture like her Heavenly Father can. Maybe her diabetes will open doors to minister to people she could not otherwise reach. Maybe He has a plan that we don’t see. Whatever the case may be, I pray that God would use her diabetes to help fulfill His purpose for her.
So we stand here today to testify to a faithful God. We stand and say we will be faithful to Him and believe in Who He is, no matter what He chooses for our daughter in the future. And may Adrienne’s life bring honour and glory to her Father God. Amen!
