We had a great, although HOT weekend! But at least it wasn’t raining! We got to St Malo on Friday night and got camp set up right away. Thank goodness, because it did start to rain enough to run into the tent for a bit. But the sun soon came out, blazing hot, and we enjoyed the evening. Tammy and her kids came out to join us for smokies and s’mores (Menno was away for a few days), and that was fun.
Saturday was hot, hot, hot, and our campsite had very little shade. We were a little disappointed in how many people were there, and how close the campsites were to one another. It took the fun out of it just a bit. We were wishing we could jump in a canoe and paddle until we found the perfect camping spot. But nonetheless, we had a great time. Dwayne and Laura, and her niece and nephew, joined us for supper and set up their tent in the site next to ours. On Sunday we all headed to the Manitoba Stampede. The grandstands were in the shade, and we had fun watching the rodeo. And we didn’t miss the bull riding this year. Yeah, we’re down home country folk now – yeehaw! I always get a big kick out of the Mutton Bustin’ too. So cute to see 4 yr old kids get thrown off of running sheep! They hang on for dear life too!
After we were all hot, sweaty, tired, thirsty, hungry and happy (well, except for our kids) we said goodbye and headed for home. After a nourishing supper of Wendy’s burgers and a frosty, baths were next and BED, sweet BED. I was dreading unpacking on Monday, but it wasn’t as bad as I had envisioned. I’m glad for that! I was dog-tired last night, but we had a great night’s sleep, and I even DRAGGED myself out of bed for a walk/jog this morning!!! It was about all I could do, but I knew I’d be happy I did it. I don’t know why I haven’t been doing that all month while Daryl has been going to work later. Oh well, I’ve been very glad for the elliptical in the basement. I think I’m getting way off topic…
